If a property uses Snappt, follow its current instructions for genuine income records and identify the specific reason for any document request. A file-format problem, a disputed income calculation and a leasing decision need different responses. Obtain source records from the issuer, ask about supported alternatives and use the appropriate support or dispute channel. No document tool can guarantee a screening result or an apartment approval.

Reviewed November 1, 2026 · U.S. rental income-document review · Based on Snappt's published applicant terms and help channels available on the review date. Property workflows can differ. The paycheck example is fictional.

An applicant can have a real job and still encounter an upload request. The useful next step is to learn what remains unresolved: the file's source, the period covered, an income figure or a requirement set by the property. Repeatedly changing the appearance of a document does not resolve those questions.

This guide concerns legitimate record submission and clarification. Read our employment verification guide for the distinction between a current job, an offer and actual earnings, and our apartment bank statement guide for explaining deposits.

Start with the property's actual request

Ask which people, documents and dates the leasing office needs. A request for the latest two pay statements is different from a request for two months of statements. Two biweekly checks generally cover four weeks; they do not necessarily describe two full calendar months.

Record the property name, application reference, requested pay periods and any stated deadline. Confirm whether you should use the invitation already received or wait for a replacement link. If an employer or financial institution is absent from an account-connection list, ask which documented alternative the property supports.

A concise question helps: “My application asks for November income documents, but the portal shows an insufficient-document message. Which document or period is missing, and should I contact technical support or supply another issuer record?” Keep the answer with your submission notes.

Which files does Snappt's manual document process cover?

Snappt's applicant terms, effective October 1, 2026, describe manual uploads of PDF bank statements and pay stubs generated directly by the bank or payroll provider's website. They distinguish that process from available account connections. Scans, print-to-PDF output and unsupported documents can be returned as insufficient for analysis.

Use the issuer's actual download function when available. Open the downloaded file and check the employee or account-holder name, employer, statement period and complete pages. Keep that file intact. A screenshot pasted into a new PDF is a different file from the original statement download.

If the issuer offers no suitable download, explain that limitation. Ask payroll or the bank whether it can provide its original electronic statement, and ask the property how it reviews that situation. Do not assume every legitimate record can be processed through the same automated route.

Questions to resolve before submitting another file
CheckWhat to confirmUseful next action
IssuerWhich employer, payroll provider or bank produced the record?Request the original download through that issuer.
PeriodDoes the record cover the dates requested?Download the correct period rather than relabeling another one.
CompletenessAre required pages and identifying fields present?Ask for a complete issuer copy if a page is missing.
TypeIs this document supported in the requested workflow?Ask the property about a suitable alternative.
IssueIs the problem access, format, a ruling or a calculation?Use the corresponding help route.
Three source-document checks for an income request: obtain the issuer's download, confirm the requested period and preserve the complete record. Ask about alternatives when the workflow does not support the document.
Begin with the source and requested period; a redesigned document cannot establish missing employment facts.

Does a document result decide whether I can rent?

Snappt's terms describe results such as clean/pass, edited/fail and insufficient. An insufficient result can mean the submission cannot be analyzed or more information is needed. It is a different message from a conclusion that a document was edited. Ask for the exact issue instead of treating every request as the same outcome.

A document result also does not settle the property's income criteria, availability, credit review or other application requirements. A complete explanation can resolve a factual misunderstanding without establishing that every leasing condition has been satisfied.

Keep communications specific. “Please identify the document and issue that require review” is more useful than asking whether a file looks convincing. If there is a claimed inconsistency, ask which date, amount or source record is involved.

A fictional split deposit: why one bank credit can be smaller than net pay

Suppose an authentic pay statement shows $2,860 gross wages and $613.75 of employee deductions. Its net amount is $2,246.25. The employee's actual payroll instruction sends $2,000 to checking and $246.25 to savings.

Finding only the $2,000 checking deposit does not account for the entire net payment. The two destinations together equal $2,246.25, and adding the deductions back reproduces $2,860 gross. These are three different measures: wages earned before deductions, net wages paid and the amount sent to one account.

This example explains a record relationship, not Snappt's proprietary calculation. If a reviewer asks about the difference, supply the relevant payroll allocation or second-account record through the approved channel. Do not add unrelated transfers or deposits to make a total match.

Fictional gross wages of 2860 dollars minus 613 dollars 75 cents deductions equal 2246 dollars 25 cents net, split between 2000 dollars checking and 246 dollars 25 cents savings. One bank deposit does not show the entire payment.
The split is an original arithmetic example; the actual employer records must support any explanation you submit.

Use the same discipline for irregular income. A reimbursement or an account transfer should retain its actual description. A year-to-date earnings total should not be presented as this month's wages. Identify the period and type before comparing any numbers.

What if I have a new job, paper payroll or self-employment?

Describe the situation accurately and ask the leasing office which review route it offers. A new-job offer, an employer verification response and a prior pay statement establish different facts. Our offer letter for an apartment guide explains future income and the gap before the first paycheck.

For paper payroll, request a genuine employer record and explain how wages are paid. For self-employment, organize actual business records rather than calling an owner's transfer an employee salary. No single alternative is guaranteed to be accepted by a particular property or automated service.

An employer may prepare a factual letter with the Employment Verification Letter tool if the property requests one. The employer must approve its facts. That letter is not a replacement original bank statement or payroll download, and this tool does not determine a Snappt result.

When should I use support, and when should I dispute a result?

Use Snappt's support channel for a technical question or an upload/access problem. Its published dispute form distinguishes those issues from a request to re-review a ruling or income calculation. The form asks for application-specific details so the team can locate the submission.

For a disputed figure, state the reported amount, the amount you believe is supported, its period and the records explaining the difference. In the fictional example, the explanation would identify the $2,000 checking payment and $246.25 savings payment, not assert that checking alone contains all net wages.

Keep the case reference and note whether a later message is a follow-up. Do not submit someone else's application dispute as though it were yours. Ask the property how an unresolved review affects its application deadline; a dispute request does not promise that a unit will be held.

Check where the records and any connection authorization go

Confirm the invitation with the property using contact details you already trust. Read what an account-connection screen authorizes before proceeding. Snappt's terms describe separate connection authorization and the option to decline a connection and use document upload; the available choices depend on the workflow.

Its privacy policy describes applicant financial information and sharing with customers and service providers. Review the property's notices as well. Ask how required identifying information should be supplied, rather than sending documents to an unverified personal account.

If a consumer report contributes to an unfavorable rental decision, CFPB guidance explains notice, report-access and dispute rights. The free-report request period is 60 days after the adverse action. Our rental denial checklist covers that separate situation.

Applicant questions

Does an insufficient result necessarily mean fraud?

No. Ask what prevented analysis or which additional evidence is needed. The specific message matters.

Can a bank transfer explain wages?

Only when the actual records support the relationship. An unrelated transfer is not proof of a missing wage payment.

Will a verification letter guarantee a pass?

No. It has its own purpose and must be accepted through the property's appropriate review process.

Can Check Stubs Online decide my application?

No. We provide document-preparation tools and educational guides, not rental screening decisions or guaranteed acceptance.

The Check Stubs Online Editorial Team reviewed current primary product and consumer guidance and independently checked the fictional payment reconciliation. Snappt is a separate service; no affiliation or approval promise is implied.
